When Only the Best Will Do!

Bluing is an electrochemical conversion coating created by an oxidizing chemical reaction on the surface of iron.  This forms magnetite, the black oxide of iron. The metal is then treated with water displacing oil.  Bluing helps protect against rust and improves the appearance of your guns. The bluing process is mostly used by gun manufacturers and gunsmiths to provide a beautiful appearance and help in resisting rust.  But you also have to do your part by keeping your guns oiled and in a dry area when being stored.

Hot Dip Bluing, which is sometimes called Caustic Black, is done with temperatures ranging between 275 ° and 310 °Fahrenheit.  It is used by the major firearms companies for large scale bluing.  When used with oil provides a good rust resistant surface.

DuraCoat is a revolutionary two-part chemical coating developed specifically for firearms. It has been extensively tested and found to be an extremely durable, reliable and attractive finish alternative. Unlike traditional finishes such as bluing, DuraCoat provides an unprecedented level of protection from moisture, saltwater, handling and other activities that normally will cause wear and corrosion on traditional finishes. With color and pattern options ranging from clear coat over traditional bluing to complex camouflage patterns, your firearm can be truly customized to your specifications while providing the highest level of firearm protection available on the market.

DuraCoat is currently used by professionals who rely on their firearms every day - from military personnel overseas to police and tactical teams here at home - DuraCoat has proven itself and received rave reviews.
